What this server records
Every website keeps a log of the requests it receives, and so does this one. This page says what is in ours, what is deliberately kept out of it, and how long it lasts.
What a request writes down
A server with no record cannot tell a fault from an attack, which is the only reason this log exists. Most of what it holds is automated scanners probing for software we do not run, not people.
What is kept out of it
- Your Reddit username. The signed cookie that carries it is replaced with the word REDACTED before the line is written, and we check this with a fake username and confirm it never appears.
- The link to the post you paste in. It is sent inside the form rather than in the address, so it never reaches the address bar, the log, or anything on disk; the same is true of any Reddit username you type here.
- An unfiltered second copy. The program behind this page writes no request lines of its own, so the filtered version above is the only record of what you asked for.
What we note that you did
It is the only thing on this server that ties an action to an account, and it holds nothing about your Reddit account: not the username, and no measurement of it.
Item counts, subreddits and date ranges are never written down anywhere. A scan records only whether each archive answered and how long it took, which are facts about the archive, not about you.
Nothing else is watching
No analytics service, no tracking pixel, and no third-party script on any page, and your browser is instructed to refuse them, so a mistake in our own code cannot quietly add one later. The fonts are served from this server for the same reason: loading them from somewhere else would hand your address to a company you did not choose.
