If intimate images of you are being shared

Services exist for exactly this. They are faster than a copyright complaint, and you need neither the copyright nor a copy of the image.

You do not have to upload anything. The services below fingerprint the image on your own device and send only that fingerprint to platforms; the image never leaves your phone.

Which service you need depends on your age when the images were made

Your age at the time, not your age now.

Both sets are on this page in full. These scroll you to one, they do not hide the other.

If you were 18 or older at the time
StopNCII.org →

Free · run by a charity

Participating platforms use the fingerprint to find and block matches.

Cyber Civil Rights Initiative →

US · support and a crisis helpline

Guidance on removal, safety planning and legal options, plus a helpline staffed by people who handle this specifically.

Revenge Porn Helpline → 0345 6000 459

UK · they contact platforms for you

They contact platforms on your behalf. Free, confidential, and they report a high success rate.

Keeping a record: Record URLs, usernames and dates, and take screenshots. That is what platforms and police ask for, and it survives the content being removed.
If you were under 18 at the time
Do not save copies. Record URLs and dates only. Do not download, screenshot or save the images, even though they are of you: possessing that material is a criminal offence with no exception for the person depicted. The services below are built to work without you ever holding a copy.
Take It Down (NCMEC) →

Any age now · images made under 18

Same method as StopNCII, but this is the correct service when the person was a minor at the time. You do not have to give your name.

NCMEC CyberTipline →

Reporting the material itself

The US national reporting route for child sexual exploitation material.

Reporting it to the platform

Do this as well. They work in parallel, and the platform route carries a legal deadline.

Report to Reddit →

Content on Reddit itself

Report it as non-consensual intimate media, not as spam or harassment. That routes it to a different team and starts the clock below.

Report to RedGifs →

Media hosted on RedGifs

Use their content removal route, not the copyright form.

FTC complaint →

US · when a platform ignores you

The FTC enforces the removal obligation below. This is the escalation when a platform does not act.

The TAKE IT DOWN Act (United States). US federal law gives covered platforms 48 HOURS to remove non-consensual intimate images, including AI-generated ones, once the person depicted asks. The FTC enforces it.

It does not depend on you owning the copyright, unlike a DMCA notice. Saying plainly that you are the person depicted, and that the image is non-consensual, is what starts the clock.

US law. Elsewhere, most large platforms apply one policy globally, and the UK helpline above can pursue it directly.

What this page is, and is not

We do not remove anything and cannot act for you; the services above can. This page has no form, never asks what the images are, and records nothing about your visit.

We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice.
