Export your "Welcome to Reddit!" email

PullPush asks for the original welcome email as an .eml file before it acts on a removal ticket. Here is how to find it and save it in the common email services.

Why a file and not a screenshot: the .eml keeps the email's headers, which are what PullPush checks, and a screenshot, PDF or forwarded copy loses them. The file also shows PullPush the email address your Reddit account was registered with.
Before you start

Find the email

  1. Sign in to the mailbox your Reddit account was registered with. If you are not sure which one, Reddit shows the address under Settings, Account, while you are signed in.
  2. Search it for Welcome to Reddit. It was sent when the account was created, so it may be years old: check Spam, Archive and All Mail too.
  3. Use a web browser on a computer if you can. The phone apps for these services mostly cannot save a message as a file.

  1. Open gmail.com in a browser on a computer, and open the welcome email.
  2. Click More, the three dots at the top right of the email, beside Reply.
  3. Click Download message. An .eml file lands in your Downloads folder.
Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, Microsoft 365

Outlook

  1. Open outlook.com in a browser (or Outlook on the web for a work account), and open the welcome email.
  2. Click More actions, the three dots at the top of the message, and choose Download. If it offers a choice of type, pick EML.
  3. The classic Outlook app for Windows saves a .msg file, which is not the file PullPush asks for. Use Outlook in the browser instead.
Mail on a Mac

Apple Mail

  1. Open Mail and select the welcome email.
  2. Choose File, Save As, and set Format to Raw Message Source. That saves it as an .eml file.
  3. Dragging the email onto your desktop saves the same .eml file, if you prefer.
iCloud.com

iCloud Mail

  1. Open icloud.com/mail in a browser and double-click the welcome email, so it opens in its own window.
  2. Click the More button in that window's toolbar and choose Download Message. It downloads as an .eml file.
Yahoo Mail

  1. Open the welcome email in Yahoo Mail in a browser, click More (the three dots) and choose View Raw Message.
  2. Select everything on that page and copy it. Yahoo has no download button, so this raw text is the file.
  3. Paste it into a plain text editor (Notepad on Windows, TextEdit set to plain text on a Mac) and save it as welcome.eml. In Notepad, set Save as type to All files, or it saves as welcome.eml.txt.

  1. Open mail.proton.me and open the welcome email.
  2. Click More, the three dots under the sender details, and choose Export. It saves as an .eml file.

  1. Open the welcome email.
  2. Choose File, Save As, File (or press Ctrl+S) and keep the .eml type.

If you cannot find it

Reddit did not always ask for an email address, and old mail gets deleted, so some accounts have no welcome email to send. Say so in your PullPush ticket and ask what else they accept; we do not know what they take instead.

Attach it to your PullPush ticket

Attach the .eml file to your ticket on PullPush's own site, with the text from your filing kit. It never comes to us: this site has no upload for it.
